MPs to Urge for Voters’ New List

(Tbilisi February 25, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Special Parliamentary group working on reform of the election system, which is composed with representatives of all the factions, held meeting on February 24 to discuss improvement of the voters’ list.

The commission, chaired by the Vice-Speaker Gigi Tsereteli elaborated a draft decree. According to the draft Interior and Justice Ministry will draft a new precise list of voters.

During the local self-governance elections held last June tens of thousands of voters could not participate in the election because they were not included in the voters’ list.

NGO and opposition parties also demand drafting a new list of voters.
