Train Derails in West Georgia, Causing Oil Spill

(Tbilisi, January 29, Civil Georgia)Three cisterns of oil have fallen this night from the bridge into the river as train derailed near village Vazisubani, Samtredia district in West Georgia.

Head of the Railway State Department Akaki Chkheidze did not rule out the possibility of deliberate explosion of the bridge.

However, Nika Laliashvili, Spokesperson of the State Security Ministry told Civil Georgia “We cannot say whether the incident was caused by the blast on the bridge, until the experts would examine the place,”

Reports say tens of tons of oil are leaked into the river.
