FBI Office to Open in Tbilisi
(Tbilisi, January 21, 2003. Civil Georgia) – The issue of opening FBI office in Tbilisi was discussed during the meeting of Georgian President Shevardnadze and representative of the FBI Michael Bizhemuk on January 21.
State Chancellery reports it is anticipated that the office will be opened in the nearest two months.
Georgian State Security Minister Valeri Khaburdzania, which also attended the meeting, told the reporters that the opening of the FBI office in Tbilisi would assist fight against terrorism and corruption in Georgia.
Khaburdzania said that the situation in Pankisi gorge was also discussed during the meeting with the FBI representative.
