Pipeline Damage in Russia Cuts off Gas Supply to Georgia
(Tbilisi, January 18, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Georgian State Minister Avtandil Jorbenadze at the Parliamentary session informed the MPs that the explosion of gas pipeline in Russia’s North Ossetia on January 17 caused suspension of gas supply to Georgia.
The Russian Interfax news agency reports that the damage of the gas pipeline was caused with the avalanche. This is the third case of damage of the gas pipeline in North Ossetia in last week.
“At lease two weeks will be needed to restore the gas supply. Damage of the gas pipeline will have heavy impact on electricity supply to Georgia as well,” Avtandil Jorbenadze stated today.
