London Poison Case Might be Linked to Pankisi – Security Ministry

(Tbilisi, January 14, 2003. Civil Georgia) – “We do not rule out that militants might be trained in use and produce of poison ricin in Pankisi gorge,” Nika Laliashvili, Spokesman for the Georgian State Security Ministry said at the news briefing today.

Georgian security official commented on report of the western media sources that the deadly poison ricin found by the police in one of the flats in London was produced in Pankisi gorge.

Nika Laliashvili said that there were some training camps for the militants in Pankisi gorge before 2002.

On January 13 chief of the Georgian Intelligence Service Avtandil Ioseliani denied the report stating that British security service has not informed their Georgian counterparts concerning the alleged link between London poison case and Pankisi.
