NDI Representative, Georgian President Discussed Election System

(Tbilisi, November 12, Civil Georgia) – Nelson Ledsky, US National Democratic Institute?s Eurasia Regional Director met Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze on November 11.
 
President?s press office reported that the election system in Georgia was the top issue discussed during the meeting.

Nelson Ledsky emphasized that the fair election system is one of the main principles for the democratic development.

Georgian Parliament intends to adopt a new election code, which will enable to hold the fair elections. 

President Shevardnadze stated that reform of the governmental structures is also important for the democratization of the country.
