Stable Situation in Pankisi

(Tbilisi, August 28 2002, Civil Georgia) “There is a stable situation in the Pankisi Gorge so far”, Nika Lalishvili, head of the press-office of Ministry of Security Affairs, told “Civil Georgia” August 28.

Ministers for Internal and Security Affairs have been in the Pankisi Gorge since the beginning of anti-criminal operation.

“Our goal is to eliminate Pankisi problem”, stated Koba Narchemashvili, Minister for Internal affairs in an interview with state 1st TV Channel.

Additional units of Internal Troops of Georgia entered the Pankisi Gorge to carry out anti-criminal operation August 25.
