Georgian Citizen Suffers from Police Violence

(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, August 22, 2002) – Several Policemen have beaten up a Georgian citizen of Azeri ethnicity TV Company Rustavi 2 reported.

According to the victim the police unit was headed by Giorgi Gamsakhurdia, son of the late President of Georgia Zviad Gamsakhurdia, who reportedly were shouting anti-Azeri insults.

Mother of the victim told Rustavi 2, she would appeal to the Azeri Embassy in Georgia for protection.
