Speaker Says Georgian Authorities are Far From Reality

(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, August 1, 2002) – At the extended government meeting on July 31 Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze criticized the reports made by State Minister Avtandil Jorbenadze and other ministers claiming that the situation in Georgia is improving.

“While hearing the reports I thought that the ministers are far from reality. They have very optimistic and positive statistics concerning the economic situation, while the reality is unfortunately different in the country,” Nino Burjanadze said.

The State Minister said at the government meeting that Georgia’s economic growth increased in the recent months.
