Russia Claims Georgia Knew Chechen Fighters Intention to Infiltration to Russia

(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, July 31, 2002) – The Russian Border Guard Commander Alexander Totski reported to the Russian President Vladimer Putin that the Georgian authorities knew concerning the Chechen fighters intention to penetrate into Russia.   Russian media sources report quoting Totski that two facts prove that Georgian government was informed in advanced.

The first is the report of Georgian shepherd Levan Telidze, who revealed Chechen fighters plan to leave Pankisi and go to Itum-Kale and told about it to Russian soldiers. The second is avoidances of two Chechen fighters detained by the Russian troops. According to Russian official Chechen detainees said that they had infiltrated into Russia with the assistance of the Georgian border guards.

Russian media sources report quoting Russian President the report of Georgian shepherd proves that common Georgian citizens have better relations with Russia, then the Georgian government.
