Russian MPs Calls for Operation in Pankisi Gorge

(Tbilisi, May 14, Civil.ge) – Head of the Russian Duma Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Dmitri Ragozin stated that person suspected in the terrorist attack on May 9 in Kaspiisk, Dagestan is hiding in Georgia’s Pankisi gorge.

He told the Russian news agency Interfax, “Russia has a moral right to launch anti-terrorist operation in Pankisi like the United States did after the September 11 attacks in Afghanistan.”

42 people died after the bomb blast in Kaspiisk.

Ragozin stated that at the meeting of the Duma Council Commission on Chechen Affairs on May 14 he intends to raise the issue of Pankisi gorge.
