Law Enforcers to Pass Preventive Military Operation in Pankisi

(Tbilisi, February 15, Civil Georgia) – Georgian Internal Affairs Minister Koba Narchemashvili states that preventive military operation will be carried out in criminal-ridden Pankisi gorge.

Internal Affairs Ministry does not specify details of possible operation.

Georgian law enforcers started special operation in Pankisi gorge on January 15 to crackdown on criminals harboring in the gorge. The operation has no significant success so far. 

Georgian Security Minister Valeri Khaburdzania admitted on February 9 that not only criminals but Chechen fighters are also harboring in Pankisi gorge.
