Trial Against Radical Orthodox Activist
(Tbilisi, February 5, Civil Georgia) – today one of the district courts in Tbilisi started trial against leader of the dissident Christian Orthodox group Basil Mkalavishvili for attacking non-Orthodox Christian groups and burning their religious literature.
The court will discuss seven cases of illegal actions against non-Orthodox groups especially Jehovah’s Witnesses organized by excommunicated priest Basil Mkalavishvili.
Excommunicated priest Basil Mkalavishvili says that his actions are not illegal, as Jehovah’s Witnesses threaten Orthodox religion.
On February 3 Mkalavishvili’s group burned approximately 4 tones of religious literature owned by the Jehovah’s Witness.
