Vital Power Unit Restored

(Tbilisi, January 25, Civil Georgia) – Power unit number 9 at AES-Mtkvari power plant, owned by the US company AES, is restored on January 24.

Power unit damaged as a result of explosion at AES-Mkvari power plant on December 22 2001. Another power unit was completely destroyed after the explosion.

It is anticipated that electricity supply to the Georgian capital Tbilisi will improve after the restoration of one of the important power units.

Power unit number 9 produces 300-megawatt electricity. Tbilisi needs at least 600-megawatt per day.
