Armenia Refused to Participate in NATO Excercises in Georgia

(Tbilisi, January 15, Civil Georgia) – Armenia will not take part in the military exercises within the NATO and Partnership for Peace program framework in Georgia, Chief of Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Lt.Gen. Mikael Arutyunyan stated on January 14, Armenian news agency Mediamax reports.

Lt.Gen Arutyunyan stated that Armenia might send military observes to the exercises.

NATO excercises will be held at the former Russian military base of Vaziani in summer 2002.

Planning conference was held in Georgian capital Tbilisi on January 12. 45 representatives from NATO and the alliance’s partner states worked out specific plan of the exercises.
