Negotiations on Trilateral Security Treaty Postponed

(Tbilisi. January 8. Civil Georgia) – Meeting of representatives of law enforcers Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey in Ankara scheduled for January 7-8 was postponed because of heavy snowfalls in Turkey, Turkish Daily News reports on January 8.

It is unknown yet when the meeting will be held.

Authorities from three states were to finalize trilateral agreement to fight terrorism, drug trafficking and organized crime.

On January 4 Turkish Foreign Affairs Ministry denied reports that the agreement foresees use of the military bases in South Caucasus by the Turkish forces.

On November 9 2001, during his visit to Georgia Turkish president Ahmet Necdet Sezer proposed President Shevardnadze to sign trilateral anti-terrorism agreement.
