MP Mikheil Saakashvili’s visit to Zugdidi, western Georgia on November 4 grew into public unrest. Supporters of local independent MP Tengiz Jgushia in opposition with the reformers wing attacked the population that hit the streets to meet Saakashvili.
Several people were hurt during the attack. Unconfirmed reports indicate that several protesters died in clashes. Saakashvili postponed the rally scheduled for the day.
“The incident shows once again the methods the government is ready to use against its opponents”, Saakashvili stated while commenting on incident.
