Protests Widen as More Studets Hit the Streets

The number of protesters in front of the Parliament building grows. Speakers demand resignation of the Interior and Justice Ministers. Some calls for Shevardnadze resignation are also heard.

The estimate numbers of participants range between 2-3 thousand. Thesa are mainly students of various Tbilisi universities who are rapidly joined by the other, older citizens.

Protests started yesterday over an attempt of the State Security Ministry to enter independent Rustavi 2 TV station. Although the Minister of Security resigned today, October 31, the street protests only grow. Freedom of speech demands are rapidly substituted by the demands for government resignation.
