PM Boasts about Georgia’s Economic Performance

Amendments to the 2007 state budget are being prepared to reflect a surplus in revenue in the first quarter of the year, PM Zurab Nogaideli told a government session on April 3.

He said that the surplus had reached GEL 250 million in the first three months of 2007.

PM Nogaideli has also claimed that 12,500 new enterprises have been set up in the same period, “which means 85-90,000 new jobs.”

He said the twelve-month inflation rate had fallen to 9.7%, “down from the two-digit figure.” It was 10.44% in January, according to the International Monetary Fund.

PM Nogaideli also claimed that economic growth was 12-13% in the first quarter. “Now we should maintain this two-digit growth,” he added.
