Senior MP: President to Give State of Nation Address in mid-March

President Saakashvili is planning to give his third annual state of the nation address to Parliament on March 15, MP Maia Nadiradze, leader of the parliamentary majority, said on Monday.

?If developments in Kodori do not trigger changes in the schedule, the address will take place on this date,? MP Nadiradze told Civil.Ge on March 12.

The President plans to meet senior lawmakers from the ruling National Movement party later on Monday.

Saakashvili?s state of the nation address was initially planned for early March, but was postponed because of the Ukrainian President?s visit to Georgia on March 1-2.

Opposition parliamentarians say that they want the president to field questions following the speech, while MPs from the ruling majority say that the president will himself choose the format of his address.
