Russian Senate Ratifies Base Pullout Treaty with Georgia

The Council of the Federation of Russia ratified an agreement with Georgia on October 13 on the timeframe and modalities of withdrawing Russian bases from Georgia, Interfax news agency reports.

A similar decision was also accepted by the Russian State Duma, the lower house of the parliament, on October 6.

According to the agreement, which was signed by Georgia and Russia on March 31, 2006, Russia should complete the pullout process in the course of 2008.
