EU Hails Putin-Saakashvili Talks

The EU?s Special Representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby said on June 14 that talks between the Russian and Georgian Presidents in St. Petersburg were ?a turning point? in the relationship between the two countries, Reuters reported.

“They had frank discussions, I think that was what was needed and I hope this will be a turning point,” Semneby said.

He also noted that the EU has warned Georgia about the need ?to be careful that its military dispositions do not jeopardize confidence-building? in the South Ossetian conflict zone.
