Georgian Antimonopoly Service Urges for Lifting Ban on British, Turkish Airlines

(Tbilisi, June 27, 2003, Civil Georgia) – The Georgian State Antimonopoly Service requested the Civil Aviation Administration to renew temporary flight license for British Mediterranean Airways and Turkish Airlines, which suspended flights in Georgia on April 15.

The Georgian side explained cancellation of the flight license to the British and Turkish companies with unpaid taxes, inadequate legal basis and unsolved disputes with the Georgian flagship company Airzena.

The Georgian Antimonopoly Service considered the issue after the appeal of the US Chamber of Commerce. The Antimonopoly Service has already notified the Georgian President regarding its decision.
