Georgian MPs Attend Inter-Parliamentary Assembly

Georgia’s six-member parliamentary delegation led by Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze took part in the 138th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva, Switzerland on March 24-28.

On the sidelines of the IPU Assembly, Georgian MPs held a number of high-level meetings with representatives of the legislatures of Austria, Bolivia, the People’s Republic of China, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Morocco, Qatar, Singapore, South Africa, Suriname, Thailand, and Vanuatu.

The sides covered a wide range of issues at these meetings, including commercial and economic relations, cooperation in the fields of culture, education and tourism. Particular emphasis was drawn to Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“We are informing our partners of the state of affairs with respect to the de-occupation policy, and I think we will have a very successful and productive visit to that end,” MP Mamuka Mdinaradze, leader of the Georgian Dream’s parliamentary faction, said during the visit.

IPU is the international organization of national parliaments, which provides a forum for worldwide parliamentary dialogue. There are currently 178 member parliaments (including the Parliament of Georgia) and 12 associate members of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
