Saakashvili Offers NSC Session Over ‘Borderisation’

President Saakashvili is offering the government to hold a session of the National Security Council (NSC) to discuss “shifting of occupation line” deeper into the Tbilisi-controlled areas in the process of installing fences by the Russian troops across the administrative boundary line with breakaway South Ossetia, chief of president’s administration Andro Barnovi said on October 9.

“The President thinks that this issue requires urgent discussion, so I will convey to the government President’s request to convene on Saturday the National Security Council,” Barnovi said.

PM Ivanishvili, who snubbed two previous NSC session, has not yet responded to this recent proposal, but on September 30 he said that President Saakashvili is not the right person to teach how to handle relations with Russia or ongoing ‘borderisation’ process because he’s the one who bears “lion’s share” of blame for existing situation.
