NSC Chief Slams ‘Irresponsible’ WikiLeaks

Giga Bokeria, secretary of Georgia’s National Security Council (NSC), slammed release of U.S. confidential diplomatic cables by WikiLeaks as "irresponsible" and "unethical".

Bokeria, a former deputy foreign minister, who took new post in November, told the Georgian Public Broadcaster’s weekly program, Accents, on December 5 that he would not comment on "substance" of the leaked documents.

He said, when asked about the fact of leakage itself, that it was not only "irresponsible", but "probably a criminal act" as well.

"All the standards, through which one can be guided when exposing government, have been violated," Bokeria said.

Referring to WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, he said: "It is very cynical when one, under the guise of martyr, ‘fights’ against the greatest democracy with this kind of prohibited methods, while leaving beyond attention those regimes, where really terrible things are happening and where really a huge bravery is required  to expose real crimes."
