S.Ossetia Says Tbilisi Conducts an ‘Anti-Peacekeeping Campaign’

Foreign Minister of breakaway South Ossetia Murat Jioyev has described the Georgian Parliament?s resolution on Russian peacekeepers as part of an ?anti-peacekeeping campaign? being carried out by Tbilisi.

In a statement issued through the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee on October 12, Jioyev said that if in some cases the peacekeeping forces ?fail to fulfill their duties fully? this is because of ?problems created by the Georgian side.?

Jioyev also said that the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, involving Russian, Georgian and Russia?s North Ossetian servicemen, are stationed in the South Ossetian conflict zone under bilateral and international agreements and the decision to pull them out from the conflict zone is not only up to Georgia, but also concerns the other parties involved.

?Denunciation of previously achieved agreements, which facilitate progress in [conflict] resolution, does not signal ‘peaceful intentions’ of the Georgian leadership,? Foreign Minister of breakaway South Ossetia added.
