Saakashvili Speaks Against ‘Intensive Annexation’ of Abkhazia
President Saakashvili said on September 18 that Georgia will never let a ?intensive annexation of Abkhazia? occur.
President Saakashvili was speaking while addressing policemen in Tbilisi at the celebration of the one year anniversary of the introduction of the Patrol Police.
“An intensive annexation of Abkhazia is under way? I will not tolerate that as long as I am alive,? Saakashvili said.
?There is also a criminals’ nest in [the breakaway South Ossetian capital of] Tskhinvali. These criminals are supported from abroad. They stupidly think that we will tolerate that. We will deal with that problem through peaceful means. But when it is necessary, we will take steps similar to those we already took to curb crime,” the President said.
This is the second time in recent days that Saakashvili has described the developments in breakaway Abkhazia as an ?annexation.?
He said while addressing the UN summit in New York on September 15 that the United National should help Georgia put an end to the ?immoral annexation of Abkhazia? by, as he put it, a ?neighboring country.?
