Revival Union’s Leader Wants Patarkatsishvili’s Assets Seized
At the anti-opposition rally, staged by the Revival Union and the pro-presidential election bloc For New Georgia, Jemal Gogitidze, one of the leaders of the Revival Union called for seizure of assets owned by Tbilisi-based influential tycoon Badri Patarkatsishvili.
“Some businessmen, who suspiciously earned money abroad, make investments in the Georgian politics. They’d better return this money to the people. The Wedding House [in Tbilisi, which was bought by Badri Patarkatsishvili] should be returned to the people,” Jemal Gogitidze said.
Badri Patarkatsishvili, who is wanted by Russia for fraud allegations, reportedly financed Shevardnadze’s election bloc’s campaign on the eve of the November 2 parliamentary elections.
However, this statement of Gogitidze did not cause any protest of For New Georgia’s leaders, who also attended the rally.
