Azerbaijan Against Removal of Russian Arms’ from Georgia to Armenia
(Tbilisi, December 16, 2002. Civil Georgia) – Azerbaijani Defense Minister Safar Abiev, which pays official visit in Georgia, stated today that Russia’s decision to remove weapons from the former Soviet military bases in Georgia to Armenia undermines stability in the region.
“We are concerned with the fact that the Russian weaponry goes from Georgia to Armenia, which has occupied part of Azerbaijan,” Azeri defense chief stated at the joint briefing with his Georgian counterpart Davit Tevzadze on December 16.
Georgian and Azerbaijani Defense Ministers signed today the protocol of cooperation, which considers holding the joint military exercises.
