LUKOil Executive’s Father Kidnap Suspects Arrested

(Tbilisi, December 13, 2002. Civil Georgia) – Georgian Interior Ministry reported today that several persons suspected in kidnapping of Sadi Sharifov, father of the Russia’s LUKOil vice-president are arrested.

Police found dead body of Sadi Sharifov on December 12. He was abducted on December 1 from his house in southern Georgia. The Georgian Interior Ministry does not reveal the details of the investigation.

Vagit Sharifov, vice-president of LUKOil arrived today in Georgia concerning the death of his father.

Sadi Sharifov has already been abducted 10 years ago and was released after 12-day of detention. Official reports say that no ransom was paid. The kidnappers have already served the sentence and are released.
