President Dissatisfied by Saakashvili’s Slogan

(Tbilisi, May 20, Civil Georgia) – President Shevardnadze said MP Mikheil Saakashvili’s election campaigning can cause new destabilization in Georgia.

“Georgia without Shevardnadze” is an election slogan of Saakashvili’s “New National Movement.” Eduard Shevardnadze claims that the phrase is anticonstitutional since he was elected by the majority of population. “I don’t suppose that people will support the slogan”, Shevardnadze said.

Mikheil Saakashvili and his supporters are one of the strongest opposition groups to President Shevardnadze’s policy.
