Faith of CUG Candidates’ List Unclear

(Tbilisi, May 13, Civil.ge) – The Central Election Commission [CEC] has registered all the 20 political parties, which appealed to the CEC to participate in the local self-governance elections.

CEC has not taken decision concerning the two lists of candidates submitted from the Citizens’ Union of Georgia [CUG] party. One list is submitted by Zurab Zhvania’s supporters and another by – pro-Presidential Levan Mamaladze’s supporters.

Registration of the Organization Council, main governing body in the CUG – chaired by Zurab Zhvania, is canceled by the decision of the Tbilisi district court.

CEC is to decide has Zhvania authority to submit the list of candidates in the name of the CUG after the court’s decision.

Tbilisi district court took the decision to cancel registration of the Organizational Council after the appeal of the supporters of Levan Mamaladze.
