Georgia Denies Possibility of Turkish Air Forces’ Presence in Marneuli
(Tbilisi. December 26. Civil Georgia) – Georgian Defense Ministry denied reports by the Russian media that Turkey is to use military airport in Marneuli, South Georgia for its military aircraft.
Armenian authorities expressed concern regarding the information.
Georgian Foreign Minister Irakli Menagarishvili also denied the information on possible use of the Georgian airport facilities by the Turkish military aircraft. Georgia will never be involved in activities against its neighbors, and Armenia in particular, Menagharishvili said.
The Turkish government funded reconstruction of the Marneuli airport in 2000.
