UN Special Envoy for Georgian Army’s Withdrawal from Kodori

(Tbilisi. December 13. Civil Georgia) – UN special envoy in Georgia Dieter Boden calls Georgian government to withdraw its military units from Kodori gorge – the only part in breakaway region of Abkhazia controlled by the Georgian government.

“350 Georgian soldiers deployed in the gorge hinders renewal of peace talks between the sides”, Dieter Boden stated.

Georgian Defense Ministry dispatched additional forces in Kodori gorge in October, when the armed clashes between Georgian-Chechen joint guerrillas and Abkhaz military units took place.
