Internal Affairs Ministry: Suspect in Giorgi Sanaia’s Murder Arrested
(Tbilisi. December 6. Civil Georgia) – Internal Affairs Minister Koba Narchemashvili and General Prosecutor Nugzar Gabrichidze confirmed yesterday that journalist Giorgi Sanaia’s murder suspect is arrested.
Koba Narchemashvili stated on the special press conference that suspect Grigol Khurtsilava admitted the crime. Police found a handgun in the house of suspect. Grigol Khurtsilava was arrested on December 5 in Tbilisi. He is former Internal Affairs Ministry employee.
Internal Affairs Minister and General Prosecutor refuse to tell any other details regarding the investigation.
26-year-old Giorgi Sanaia was one of the leading journalists in Georgia. He was hosting an evening news program “Night Courier” on the TV channel “Rustavi-2”. Giorgi Sanaia was found dead in his own apartment in the evening on July 26.
