New Ambassadors to Armenia, Egypt, India, Sweden Appointed

President Giorgi Margvelashvili has appointed Georgia’s new ambassadors to Armenia, Egypt, India, and Sweden on June 20.

Giorgi Saganelidze, who served as minister plenipotentiary for five years in the Georgian embassy in Yerevan, has been appointed as ambassador to Armenia, replacing Tengiz Sharmanashvili.

Alexander Nalbandov, who was Georgia’s deputy foreign minister for two years till late 2010 and who served as ambassador to Slovakia since 2011, was appointed as ambassador to Egypt.

Nalbandov replaced in Egypt Archil Dzuliashvili, who was appointed as Georgia’s ambassador to India.

Malkhaz Kakabadze, who was deputy foreign minister in 1990s, was appointed as ambassador to Sweden, where the Georgian embassy also covers Finland. Kakabadze was Georgia’s ambassador to Russia in 1998-2000 and then served as special affairs minister in charge of issues related to the Abkhaz conflict till 2004.
