Geostat: Annual Inflation 3.2% in April
Georgia’s annual inflation slowed to 3.2% in April from 4.1% a month earlier, the state statistics agency, Geostat, said on Tuesday.
On a monthly basis, prices fell 0.6% in April after 0.3% deflation in March.
Prices in the group of alcoholic beverages and cigarettes rose by 14.7% year-on-year in April, caused mostly by increase of excise tax on tobacco.
Annual inflation in the healthcare group stood at 7.5% in April, driven by 10.2% y/y price hike for medical products, appliances and equipment, and 10.3% y/y increase of prices for outpatient services.
Prices for hotels and restaurants services increased 7% y/y in April.
Lower vehicle and fuel prices led to a 6.1% y/y decline in transportation costs in April.
Prices in the group of household maintenance and equipment rose 5.7% y/y and inflation in the group of housing, water, electricity and gas was up 5.4% y/y in April. Food prices were up 1.9% y/y in April.
