Georgian Defense Minister to Visit Canada, UN, Germany, Brussels, Azerbaijan
Defense Minister Tina Khidasheli has left for a two-week foreign trip that includes visits to Canada, the UN headquarters in New York, the European Parliament in Brussels, as well as Germany and Azerbaijan.
In Canada Khidasheli will address annual Halifax International Security Forum on November 20. She said that she will meet representatives of Canada’s new government on the sideline of the forum, including with Defense Minister Harjit Sajjan.
The Georgian Defense Minister will then travel to New York where, she said, she will meet UN officials in charge of peacekeeping operations. Earlier this month the U.S. has welcomed Georgia’s pledge to contribute a battalion to UN peacekeeping missions.
In Germany, Khidasheli will meet her German counterpart Ursula Von der Leyen and will then travel to Brussels, where she will address the European Parliament’s security and defence subcommittee. She said she will wrap up her two-week foreign trip with the visit to Azerbaijan.
