State Minister Says Russia’s Blame for War Unquestionable

Temur Iakobashvili, the Georgian state minister for reintegration, said “the entire world knows” that Russia launched aggression against Georgia last August and “no one questions it.”

“I think that there are no skeptically disposed politicians left in Europe [on this matter]. There are those, who know the truth; those, who know the truth but do not want to understand it about it and those, who simply work for Russian special services – I do not mean only politicians; there are also journalists and experts among them,” Iakobashvili told Imedi TV on August 6.

The Georgian government will release a report on Thursday evening detailing its version of events prior and during the August war.

The report comes on the eve of the August war’s anniversary and less than two months before the EU-funded fact-finding mission into the causes of the war releases its report.

“We will probably witness a new wave of media war against Georgia from today. But the entire world has seen who is an aggressor, the entire world has seen, who prepared and who carried out a military operation against a neighboring sovereign state. Therefore, there are no more questions in this regard,” Iakobashvili said.
