Kitsmarishvili Says to Run for Public TV Head

Erosi Kitsmarishvili, former co-owner Rustavi 2 TV and ex-insider of the Saakashvili administration, announced on his Facebook page on July 21, that he had decided to run for position of public broadcaster’s general director.

Kitsmarishvili, who has turned into President Saakashvili’s fierce critic after the August war, served as Georgia’s last ambassador to Russia.

Post of the public broadcaster’s general director became vacant this week after Levan Kubaneishvili filed resignation – the second major reshuffle in the Georgian national TV networks in recent weeks.

Deadline for applying for the post of public broadcaster’s head expires on August 3 and board of trustees will elect new general director on August 10.
