First Case of H1N1 Flu in Georgia

Georgia has confirmed its first case of H1N1 flu virus in one of its citizens on July 17, Healthcare Minister, Alexander Kvitashvili, said on Saturday.

A woman who has arrived back in the country from London via Yerevan flight is in hospital under intensive care, the minister said and added that the virus was identified at its very early stage and the patient’s life was not in danger.

“This is the first case of swine flu in the country,” Kvitashvili said. “The patient is in isolation. The most important is that the case was identified timely.”

He also said that Georgia had notified about the case the Armenian healthcare authorities as well as World Health Organization.
