Medvedev Meets Abkhaz Leader
Russia’s President, Dmitry Medvedev, met with Abkhaz leader, Sergey Bagapsh, in Kremlin on March 4.
“I wanted just to see you, to talk about how things are developing in respect of developing statehood in the Republic,” Medvedev told Bagapsh in remarks aired by the Russian televisions just before the meeting.
“We have various developments ahead. Just recently we have exchanged ambassadors. Currently final decision is being prepared about deploying diplomatic representations both in Moscow and Sukhumi. So I think everything is developing in a normal manner as far as diplomatic work is concerned.”
“But there also are more serious, comprehensive issues, which I think we will discuss,” Medvedev added.
Bagapsh told Medvedev in response: “Work is being carried out, as you said, including on the diplomatic front and many documents have already been submitted; other major document are still being prepared – related with Finance Ministry. On others – about agreement related with banking sector, which is so necessary – I will tell you. What is the most important everything is being done due schedule. Everything proceeds in a normal way so far.”
