Parliamentary Minority to Have a Member in GNCC

The parliamentary minority will be eligible to nominate one member for the Georgian National Communications Commission (GNCC), according to the amendment to the law on broadcasting passed by the Parliament on December 2 with its first hearing.

The parliamentary majority group also becomes eligible to appoint one of its representatives in GNCC, according to the same draft amendment.

Presently, the commission is composed of five members and each of them has been selected through open competition for a term of six years. The draft amendment, however, envisage pre-term suspension of the authority for the sitting members of the commission.
