U.S. Official Meets Parliamentary Minority Leaders

Daniel Fried, the U.S. assistant secretary of state, met with a group of lawmakers from the parliamentary minority on October 20 before meeting the leaders of opposition parties boycotting Parliament.

“Democratic processes were discussed, but mainly we talked about Russia-Georgia relations and issues related with the restoration of Georgia’s territorial integrity,” MP Gia Tortladze told journalists after the meeting.

MP Giorgi Targamadze, the leader of the parliamentary minority, said that U.S. assistance was important for Georgia in terms of security and democracy development.
