Sarkozy, Medvedev Discuss Ceasefire Deal
French President phoned his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev, to discuss “finalizing of procedures for signing by all the interested parties” a six-point ceasefire agreement, the Kremlin said late on August 15.
By saying “all the interested parties” the Kremlin made it clear that the agreement is not just between Tbilisi and Moscow and Sokhumi and Tskhinvali should also join.
President Saakashvili speaking with journalists after almost five hours of talks with Secretary Rice in Tbilisi said he had signed the agreement and underlined that it was a ceasefire deal between Tbilisi and Moscow.
President Medvedev hosted Abkhaz and South Ossetian leaders in the Kremlin on August 14, where they signed the six-point ceasefire agreement.
