Scores of Civilians Dead in Gori Bombing – Reports

Scores of civilians are reported to be killed after the Russian warplanes bombed town of Gori close to breakaway South Ossetia this morning.

TV footage showed several apartment buildings in Gori hit by bombs.

In a separate air strike Russian warplanes hit the Kopitnari airport’s runaway close to Georgia’s second largest city of Kutaisi in western Georgia.

Kakha Lomaia, the secretary of National Security Council, has claimed that up to ten Russian warplanes have been shot down by the Georgian air defense systems in two days. He, however, said no debris of downed aircraft were yet found claiming that areas were difficult to access.
