Saakashvili: Georgia Downed Two Russian Jets

Georgian forces have downed two Russian military aircraft that breeched Georgian airspace, President Saakashvili said on August 8.

Saakashvili made this statement while speaking at a press conference with foreign journalists. He, however, did not give any further details.

Earlier on August 8 Georgian media reported that Georgian forces had downed one Russian aircraft near Gori. The Russian Defense Ministry, however, denied the report, dismissing it as yet another provocation.
