Merger of General Prosecutor’s Office, Justice Ministry Planned

The General Prosecutor’s Office and the Justice Ministry will be merged, Gia Khuroshvili, the government’s parliamentary secretary, said on July 2.

The planned merger will require a constitutional amendment. The General Prosecutor’s Office was part of the judicial system, but was given separate status in 2004 following a constitutional amendment.
