Burjanadze to Visit Germany, Austria
Nino Burjanadze, the chairperson of the outgoing parliament, will start working visit to Germany and Austria on May 26, the parliament’s press office reported.
In Germany Burjanadze plans a meeting with Norbert Lammert, president of the German parliament, and then in Vienna Burjanadze will hold meetings with OSCE officials. The parliament’s press office said that Burjanadze will arrive back to Georgia on May 30.
Burjanadze has kept low profile since she quit the ruling party in April over disagreement over party list of MP candidates. She made a televised address to the nation on the eve of elections and made brief comments after casting ballot on May 21. She has yet to comment on the parliamentary election and its results.
On May 26, which is Georgia’s Independence Day, the opposition plans a protest rally to challenge election results, which it says were falsified.
